Like every year, close to my house, in early springtime, frog mating takes place. For two years I have been wondering how to show the beauty of the frogs’ habitat. I knew that I wanted to show a picture against the light, from a very low perspective, right on the water surface. Among the spawn of moor frogs, suddenly I noticed a stray toad, and at once I knew that it would be the hero of the picture. I waited patiently for the last rays of light, when the Sun was as low as possible above the horizon, to obtain picturesque color of the light. In order to bring out the details in shadows I used a flash. I made the picture with a telephoto lens, with an extension ring put on, in the manual focus mode. Wearing rubber, fishing waders I could wait, sitting in the water for ideal lighting and compositional conditions.
